Insurance & Out-of-Network Benefits

Courageous Resilience Therapy is a private-pay, out-of-network practice and does not bill insurance companies directly.

Depending on your insurance plan, however, you may have out-of-network behavioral health benefits that reimburse you for a portion of the cost of therapy. Superbills can be provided for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. You may also have the option to use Thrizer to help simplify the out-of-network reimbursement process.

Because every insurance plan is different, reimbursement cannot be guaranteed. Before beginning therapy, consider asking your insurance company:

  • Does my plan include out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • Do I have an out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met?

  • What percentage or amount is reimbursed for outpatient psychotherapy?

  • Is there a limit on the number of therapy sessions covered each year?

  • How do I submit claims for out-of-network reimbursement?

Benefits of Private-Pay Therapy

More choice in finding the right therapist

The relationship you have with your therapist matters. Private-pay and out-of-network therapy gives you the freedom to choose a therapist based on their approach, experience, specialties, and how comfortable you feel working together—not simply whether they appear on an insurance directory.

Therapy centered around you

Your goals, experiences, and needs guide our work together. Treatment is collaborative and individualized, allowing us to focus on what is most meaningful to you and adjust our approach as your needs change.

Greater privacy for your care

When insurance is used to pay for therapy, certain information —including a mental health diagnosis — is generally shared with the insurance company for billing purposes. Some clients prefer to pay privately so that their insurance company is not involved in their care.

Good Faith Estimates

Under the No Surprises Act, clients who are uninsured or who choose not to use insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of their care.

Courageous Resilience Therapy will provide information about your expected charges so that you can make informed decisions about your care before beginning services.
